Honestly, after doing this, I thought it was worse than it actually was. It's a few minutes slower than my All Emeralds Millie run from last week, but still faster than my other All Emeralds runs from earlier that week.
I can do better than this, but after weeks of not doing anything with Metal Sonic beyond IL runs, I've decided I'm not gonna let perfect be the enemy of done. I'll fix things incrementally in future runs, in both full game categories. Might take a while, though; even though I technically know what to do, mechanically I'm a little clumsy with the game.
